From many places in West Papua birds of paradise are retreating deeper into the jungle, because their habitat is destroyed and some are heavily hunted for their feathers. Zeth Wonggor has been successful in setting up eco-tourism in a sustainable way and has set an example to his
fellow-villagers.
Birds of paradise are now safe in the Arfak because the entire village community helps to protect their habitat without hunting them.
