Improvement of basic conditions for health care
The health care situation in West Papua is really bad; facilities, when existing are concentrated in the cities and hardly available in the interior. The infant mortality is 30 to 40% in the interior. Young children die amonst other things of tropical diseases and contaminated drinking water.
Our medical projects focus on the improvement of basic conditions for health care. Examples are the establishment of mother and child care clinics, offering basic medical care and public information on general health and hygiene issues. Besides the SDSP also provides clean drinking water, sanitary facilities and proper housing. |
